Joshua Carter was born 1986, in Torrance, California, but grew up in Zimmerman, MN. He attended Princeton High School where he became highly interested and excelled in the arts. These included writing, theater, speech, and most especially, painting and drawing.
After graduating high school he began studying at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2005 where he started to make color photographs. He studied abroad in Ireland at the Burren College of Art in 2008. This is where he worked in mixed media projects that involved photography, painting and installation work.
Carter's photographs have been featured in publications such as Twin Cities Fashion and Luxury Magazine, Minneapolis: St. Paul Magazine, Area Women's Magazine and on briefmagazine.com. His work has also been shown at various venues such as the Minneapolis Institute of Art, The Weisman Art Museum, The Minneapolis College of Art and Design and The Burren College of Art.
He continues to live and make work in Minneapolis.
